“ This was my first experience having lunch at T.L.'s Restaurant. The Outer Banks has a limited number of restaurants open in January, especially Manteo. I wasn't expecting anything more than a warm meal, but I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Chef Salad with Grilled Fish. You'd be hard pressed to find a salad of this caliber at a fine dining establishment. The fresh fish spanned the length of the salad and was grilled to perfection. Not overcooked. The flavor made me believe it had to have been caught within the past 24 hours, whether it had or not. The bacon pieces were slow cooked. And the eggs were perfectly hardboiled. Just everything about the experience surpassed my expectations. I can't speak of the traditional diner specials, but the other locals there seemed to be enjoying themselves. Long and short of my review...I highly recommend T.L.'s Restaurant in Manteo. Two big thumbs up! ”
“ What an absolutely charming and FRIENDLY place! Everyone greeted us and were genuinely happy we were there. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS! We have a handicapped daughter with special dietary needs, and Jesus, our server, checked her allergies with the chef. She had the salmon patty special, which was perfectly prepared to the consistency she needed. It looked so good, so we all tried it...it was superb!! I had the steak quesadilla, and the meat was so tender, it practically melted in my mouth. My husband had the shrimp and it, too, was absolutely delicious! Even the homemade coleslaw that came with it tasted wonderful! We saved room for desserts and were blown away by the selection and taste. It was hard to decide there were so many mouth-watering choices...I had creamsicle cake, it was absolutely heavenly. The taste and texture was perfect! My husband had the 12-layer cake...yes, that many layers. Such a pleasure to eat that moist, flavorful treat. Again our daughters needs were perfectly met with a smooth banana pudding with a surprise at the bottom! Apparently the desserts come from the local bakers! To round out this experience we had the most delightful server, Jesus. His sense of humor, attention to detail, and sincere desire to please, put him at the top of our list of "best service of all time." Our evening ended with a check-in by the owner (I think that's who it was) making sure we were happy. It was a perfect way to start our Outer Banks vacation. We will definitely be back! ”
“ Stopped here randomly on my way out of the outer banks and it was really good! Great service and the fish sandwich was delicious. I also ordered banana pudding and a biscuit to go which were both pretty good. ”
“ The food was really good. Had the pork chop special. Would highly recommend that itself. Waitress was super nice and it definitely had a hometown/small town feel to it which I love. I found my dinner spot when I'm in the area for work! ”
“ Really good diner fare at affordable prices. I had two eggs over easy w/ bacon & homefries and everything came out perfect. ”
“ On a dark, cold, rainy night American comfort food really helps beat the blues. My husband had the cheese steak and said it was one of the best he's ever had, well seasoned, meat tender and not over cooked. I had the fried chicken and they let me know that the wait would be a little longer, you can't rush perfection. Lots of locals, amazing friendly staff. This is not a snobby cafe, but a down home place. The price was right, the food delicious and the environment exactly what you want when you get nostalgic for a diner that knows what they are doing. ”
“ Buddy recommended I stop by for the burger. TL's is a local eatery with a tasty 1lb "never frozen" burger on the menu! Awkward to get my mouth around it and a lil messy, but WORTH IT. Friendly staff and patrons, 10/10 I would return! ”
“ Outstanding breakfast! The eggs were cooked perfectly. Biscuits & Gravy was just like I like it - sprinkled with sausage. Coffee can make or break a breakfast and their Coffee was great. We definitely look forward to going back there!! ”
